  • Exchange of contact info, email address’ and dropbox info

At home

  • Select 10 images and upload them to our dropbox by midnight of Sunday 7 February.
    Each image size should not exceed 10MB. (image format: jpg, gif, png or tiff)
  • Research graphic designers/studios based in Europe and find one you really like.
    You can conduct your research in any way; through design blogs, magazines, books, exhibitions etc. You may take a look at the list of links from the References page on this website.
    Send your choice of one designer or studio by midnight Sunday 7 February to: m.yamada@csm.arts.ac.uk. Be ready to talk about your choice for the following class.

  • Image archive discussion
  • Design studio research mini presentation
  • Think about at least two possible concepts and send them by midnight Sunday 14 February to: m.yamada@csm.arts.ac.uk

Week 3/7
Tuesday
16 February

  • Feedback tutorial – reviewing each person’s concepts.
  • Comparative discussion of references, books and examples
  • Plan and execute your project independently from this point
  • Select the images you will be using for your project
  • Decide which medium you are planning to use in order to realise your concept (book format, video performance, etc)
  • Research the resources and facilities you would need to use for your project (materials, printing, equipment, etc)
  • Start working on your layouts. Print out your first draft layout and the images you will be using for your project (see "At class" on week 4/7).

Week 4/7
Tuesday
23 February

  • 1-on-1 feedback tutorials
  • Print and bring your first draft layout and the images you will be using for your project. The images will need to be trimmed to size so we can work with them more physically at this stage. We will be looking at how your image sequences would work with your concept and layouts.
  • Comparative discussion of references, books and examples
  • Start making a mockup of your project

Week 5/7
Tuesday
1 March

  • Group feedback tutorial
  • Make more mockups and keep refining them

Week 6/7
Tuesday
8 March

  • Final feedback tutorial
  • Bring a fully functional mockup (all content must be placed and sequenced).
  • Refine your project as much as possible.
  • Work on a title and a description of your project. The description should include your concept and process.

Week 7/7
Tuesday
15 March

  • Final presentation – bring your final outcomes along with its title and description.
  • Photo documentation for the class website
  • Party & Sleep
