On Earth, sunrise, sunset, and cycle of day and night is just a simple fact of life. As a result of seasonal changes that happen with every passing year, the length of day and night can vary, and be either longer or shorter by just a few hours. Space and time are of cyclical nature. This universe is simply the current one, which is in flux and constantly changing, when it finally ceases to manifest, a new one will arise.
Experience can only be improved by the introduction of interactions, therefore that is why I used the “tablitas mexicanas” to create a sensation of the continuity of the day; 1 year, 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days, etc. It changes the audience from viewer to participant and in doing so it is transforming the nature of experience. From visual to performance and gaming, the boundary of what is possible for creation to extend.
To do this I used agglomerate wood to make the “tablitas mexicanas” have the movement, if I had used another material, the effect would have been differently; they would have gone much slower. After this, the images where transferred with Image Maker that is also used on textiles, however, after this with a wet sponge the paper had to be carefully rubbed out from the agglomerate wood; leaving only the ink. In addition, varnish was used to make the images clearer.
The result ended up looking really good, at the beginning I was really concerned of how I was going to transfer the image and making it look clear, but thanks to a friend she gave me the tip of using the varnish at the end to make the image pop out, which actually helped a lot.
