Mehrwert

“Mehrwert” uses the juxtaposition of images to explore Karl Marx’s concept of surplus value and how it is created through the alienation and exploitation of workers. The materials used are representative of this juxtaposition. As well, a surplus of space is used to create a sense of alienation from the images themselves. Hand binding the book was a personal attempt to counteract the concept of surplus value by requiring a degree of craftmanship and creating an attachment between the final product and myself.
