Horizons

by Tierney Snow

In this work I have selected and edited several photographs that have one thing in common: they all contain a distinct horizon line as part of the landscape. By connecting each of these horizons lines I intend to show another connection as well; that a horizon line in fact never ends as it circles the world, whether our not our human eyes can see it. The quote, "Here comes a beautiful horizon, right where it starts it ends," are song lyrics that, in accordance with the images, were my inspiration for this project. In translating the lyrics to the idea of horizon lines, it holds true that right where a horizon starts is the exact spot where it ends, given that the world is round. The project is intended to have flow and movement, as if one were traveling across these individual (and yet wholesome) landscapes. The purpose of having the images change from day to night as well as color to black and white also signifies a movement, but rather a movement of time and place.
